Champion wants to celebrate and Champion creators and the thing and/or environment which sums up them and their creativity. We will create a film made predominantly of images featuring creators and calling out the elements they Champion through their creativity.

Background:

Champion is launching a new brand platform called “Champion What Moves You”. This platform highlights a specific group of people we’re calling “creators with purpose”. These creators with purpose are talented individuals who are inspiring action, pushing boundaries, moving culture forward, and building communities. With this platform, we want to focus on bringing out their internal positive energy through exploring their passions. We’ll tap into the things they care about most and transform them into a powerful creative idea. 

This platform should give these creators a place to Champion what they believe in. The platform is designed to showcase the Creators with Purpose at the center, begin to tell the story of who they are, where they are from, and what they Champion. 

Examples of things our creator could Champion: mental health, sustainability, authenticity, self-expression, etc. They can Champion these topics through a variety of different passions such as music, art, sport, photography, dance, and so on.

What we’re after:

We want images of a wide variety of creators whose creativity allows them to push the boundaries, move communities forward, enjoy the rebellious act of self-expression. Individuals who create and Champion sustainable fashion, who Champion mental health through their music, their art. Creators who challenge stereotypes through sport and movement or are motivated by collaboration. Creators who can confidently answer the questions What do you Champion? and how do you use your creative purpose to pursue this?  We want one photo that sums up their answer and sums up their creative passion. This could be in the environment that enables their creativity, this could be them working in progress, it can be at any stage during the creative process if they feel this sums up their creative pursuit. Along with the submission they should tell us what they Champion using the sentence “I Champion…” Keep it short and sweet i.e. “I Champion self-expression”. It should be what fuels their creativity and not just the word “creativity”.

Capture images both horizontally and vertically.  

Tone:
The image should feel joyous and authentic, this is about you and creative purpose.

Creative Direction:

Lighting
We want clean, clear lighting so we can truly see the creator in their element. For creators which utilise dark spaces as part of their creativity, try and make the image as clean and clear as possible without compromising the integrity of their working conditions.

Angles
We want to avoid simply having portrait images, be playful with how you capture the creative, get interesting angles, capture movement.  Again, capture both horizontal and vertical images.

Expressions
Allow the creator to be bold with their facial/body expressions, they should not be afraid to move about, pull faces, be confident and authentic to who they are as individuals and who are they are within their creativity.

Cast:
We are open to a wide variety of races, sizes, body types, types of creative pursuits.

Age
Predominantly between the ages 16-26 but can be flexible, if you have a 90year old female skateboarder, then go for it.

Audio:
NO AUDIO REQUIRED


Graphic Direction:
Clean image, no graphics, supers or overlays should be present.


 

Mandatories:

  • Should be wearing Champion, does not need to be head to toe but the brand should be present.
  • Should sum up the creator, their creative pursuit, the environment which best speaks to, enables or enhances their creativity.
  • Avoid filters, we want this to be authentic.
  • Creator should also finish the sentence “I Champion…” and tell us in a short and concise manner what they Champion through their particular brand of creativity.


General guidelines:
 

  • Do not feature competitor branding.
  • Do not feature anyone who has not signed a release.
  • Do not Show any unapproved/licensed art (e.g., street art, tattoos, murals, etc.)  in the background
  • Do not be afraid to be imperfect, a messy studio can be a great motivator for some, A room full of failed paintings shows perseverance.
  • Do Provide the creator’s social handle.
  • Do provide their sentiment on what they Champion.

Brand/Product Insights:
Champion is about shining a light on creators with purpose, it’s about amplifying voices and championing causes which push the boundaries, move culture forward, encourage collaboration and celebrate craft and communities.


Process and Timeline:
 

THIS IS A SUPER-FAST PROJECT, SO YOU WILL HAVE LESS THAN A WEEK TO CAPTURE THE STILL IMAGE AND SUBMIT YOUR IDEA.

ONCE WE GET THE IMAGES WE NEED, WE'LL BE CLOSING THE BRIEF, SO ACT QUICKLY!

  • Friday, April 21 - Tuesday, May 2: Receive images from the platform.
  • Wednesday April 26 - Tuesday May 2: Continue receiving images, choose selects.
  • Brief closes when we get the images we need 


Tech specs:
Please send both JPG and High Res Raw camera files of your images.  

Click the ‘Submit’ tab on the brief page and just drag and drop the files of your images onto the page. Fill out the information form and hit ‘submit’. 

PLEASE SUBMIT UP TO 10 IMAGES (both horizontal and vertical).

Your proposal should consider the budget available as a fixed cost. The fixed cost budget will need to cover all production elements as outlined in the checklist on the side bar.

The deadline for submitting your pitch is 23:59 PST 2nd May.
